EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern senior forward Matt Eliason (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats' two victories.

Eliason assisted on three of Northwestern's five goals last week in helping the Wildcats to wins over local rival DePaul and 15th-ranked Ohio State. He is currently tied with Piero Bellizzi for the team lead with four assists this season.

In Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Demons, Eliason helped give NU a 2-1 second-half lead with his assist on a goal by John Rogers before setting up Layth Masri for the game-winning score with just under six minutes remaining in regulation.

In Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Buckeyes, Eliason's long service set up Reed Losee for the first goal of the game and gave Northwestern a lead it wouldn't relinquish. The victory was the Wildcats' fifth consecutive over Ohio State in regular-season play.

The complete team of the week can be found here.

With eight points this season, Eliason currently has 78 in his career, just two shy of the school career record held by Gerardo Alvarez (2003-06) and Jonathan Hall (1986-89).

Northwestern (6-4-1, 1-1 Big Ten) has won its last three contests and returns to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when it takes on Northern Illinois. Tickets will be on sale at Lakeside Field prior to the contest.
