Fall Quarter Academic Performance Summary Points

Northwestern student-athletes have continued to excel in the classroom. Here are some highlights from the 2009 fall academic quarter:
16 out of 19 teams achieved team GPA's of 3.00 (the all-time high for NU is 17)
18 out of 19 teams achieved team GPA's of 2.90 and higher, including both football and men's basketball
The all-time high student-athlete GPA for a quarter is 3.26 set in the spring of 2009. The fall of 2009 GPA of 3.14 matches the previous best prior to last spring.
297 out of 457 student-athletes (65%) achieved GPA's of 3.00 and higher
"To be certain, our student-athletes turned in another excellent quarter in the classroom this fall," Director of Athletics and Recreation Jim Phillips said. "Earning a degree from Northwestern is the No. 1 goal for every member of our athletic program, and we are proud to remain a leader among our peers in graduation rates with performances like our student-athletes turned in during the fall quarter this year."
