EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat junior Sabel Moffett (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) of the volleyball team and graduate student Andrew Brewer (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) of the football team have been named this week's Hilton Garden Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

Moffett earned tournament MVP honors at the IUPUI Invitational this weekend after helping NU win the tournament championship on tiebreakers. Moffett recorded 36 kills and 16 blocks in NU's three matches and did not post a hitting error in either of the weekend's first two matches. Against Miami (Ohio), Moffett posted a career-best hitting percentage of .708 (17 kills on 24 attempts with no errors).

Brewer Northwestern to a 47-14 defeat of Towson in its season-opener Saturday with a career-high 145 receiving yards on six catches. The 145 yards rank as the most receiving yards a Wildcat player has racked up since Jonathan Fields in 2004. Brewer's highlight of the afternoon came on a 72-yard catch-and-run touchdown strike from quarterback Dan Persa, the first receiving touchdown of Brewer's career.

This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is senior Corey Wootton (Rutherford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) of the football team. Wootton and the entire football team hosted children from the St. Baldrick's Foundation on Saturday during the game against Towson in honor of September being Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. Wootton, Pat Fitzgerald and members of the team met with the children and signed autographs after the game. The kids were also able to run on the field and through the pregame tunnel.
