NU Announces Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat sophomore Chelsea Armstrong (Perth, Australia/Penrhos) of the field hockey team and junior Jack Hillgard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) of the men's soccer team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.
Armstrong scored four goals in two games for No. 18 Northwestern this weekend, including all three in NU's 3-2 overtime win against Maine on Saturday. Armstrong's game-winner in the extra session came despite NU playing shorthanded due to a yellow card. Her 19 goals this season lead the nation and rank fifth all-time on NU's single-season list while her 45 points put her in a tie for the fifth-most points in a season in school history.
Hillgard lifted No. 17 Northwestern to a 1-0 victory with his overtime goal against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Sunday. Hillgard got on the end of a free kick by Mark Blades just over two minutes into the extra session and headed it home for his first career goal. The junior midfielder helped Northwestern extend its unbeaten streak to six games.
This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is junior Robin Thompson (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) of the softball team. Thompson and members of the softball team ran a clinic for a group of elementary school children as part of the Girls in the Game program. Robin helped educate the group on the fundamentals of the game while stressing the importance of receiving a good education. Girls in the Game aims to provide sports, fitness and wellness opportunities to enhance the overall health of all girls.
