Sixty-Eight Wildcats Earn Academic All-Big Ten Distinction

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern student-athletes earned 68 Academic All-Big Ten honors in eight spring sports, the Big Ten Conference office announced today (May 29). Coupled with the 75 accolades won in the fall quarter and 41 more in the winter, an incredible 184 Wildcats were named Academic All-Big Ten during the 2008-09 academic year.

Northwestern-sponsored sports honored by the Big Ten and recognized during the spring season are: baseball, women's fencing, men's golf, women's golf, women's lacrosse, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis.

To earn Academic All-Big Ten recognition, an athlete must be in his/her second year at the institution, letter in his/her sport and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
