EVANSTON, Ill. --
Northwestern junior Katrina Dowd (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) of the women's lacrosse team and freshman Paul Snieder (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) of the baseball team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

Dowd scored seven goals for the second consecutive game in the NCAA Tournament for Northwestern as the 'Cats earned a fifth straight trip to the national semifinals with a 16-9 victory against Princeton. Dowd scored twice in the opening minute to get NU rolling and is now well within striking distance of the NCAA Tournament record of 17 goals in a single postseason. She now has a team-leading 67 goals this season.

Snieder helped Northwestern end its season with a doubleheader sweep of Michigan at Rocky Miller Park Saturday. Snieder hit a two-run game-tying home run in the seventh inning before ending things with a walk-off solo blast in the bottom of the ninth to give NU a 6-5 win on Senior Day. Snieder totaled four hits and three runs during the twinbill for Northwestern.

This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is sophomore Meshia Reed (Country Club Hills, Ill./Stockbridge (Ga.)) of the women's basketball team. Reed and members of the women's basketball team and coaching staff participated in the 2009 Walk Now for Autism event at Soldier Field in Chicago this weekend. Head coach Joe McKeown, whose son is autistic, was the featured speaker at the event, which aims to raise awareness and funds for children and families faced with autism.
