Reserve Your Spot at the 2008-09 NU Wrestling Banquet

EVANSTON, Ill. --
Following another memorable season for Northwestern wrestling, head coach Tim Cysewski and his squad are set to host their annual team banquet to celebrate the achievements of the 2008-09 campaign. All fans and friends of the program are invited to attend to be on hand for the official presentation of the Hodge Trophy to one of the best wrestlers ever to come through Northwestern, two-time NCAA champion Jake Herbert.

This year's banquet will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the Wildfire Glenview in Glenview, Ill. Fans interested in attending can reserve their spot by completing and returning the registration form available at the top of the page. Dinner will be served at the event and the cost is $30 per person.

In addition to awarding the Hodge Trophy to Herbert, WIN Magazine will also be in attendance to hand out even more hardware to the Wildcats. The publication is set to present NU freshman Jason Welch with the Junior Dan Hodge Trophy, which Welch won following his senior season at Las Lomas High School as the best schoolboy wrestler in the country. Welch was a three-time California state champion and this year placed second at the Big Ten Championships at 157 pounds.

Below is a look at a few of the highlights from this season that Northwestern will be commemorating at its annual banquet:

Jake Herbert became a two-time NCAA champion with a perfect 34-0 season at 184 pounds
• Junior Brandon Precin placed third in the country at 125 pounds to earn his second All-American honor
• In addition to Jake and Brandon, sophomore Keith Sulzer and true freshman Jason Welch also qualified for the NCAA Championships
Jake Herbert won his third Big Ten Championship while Brandon Precin and Jason Welch each placed second
Jake Herbert and Brandon Precin gave NU two Midlands champions for the second time in four years
• This was the final year in the Wildcat careers of seniors Jake Herbert and Marty Gould
