EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern shook off a slow start, scoring eight times in the fifth inning and five more times in the sixth to roll to a 15-6 victory over Trinity International Tuesday afternoon at Rocky Miller Park.

Chad Noble and Tony Vercelli had three hits apiece for NU (8-23), while Paul Snieder drove in three runs.

The Wildcats trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the fifth and had only two hits through the first four frames, but collected eight hits on their way to scoring eight times in the frame. Tommy Finn had a two-run double in the frame, while Noble, Vercelli, Paul Snieder, Trever Stevens and Quentin Williams each added run-scoring hits.

Northwestern put the game out of reach in the sixth, pulling ahead 13-3. Snieder had a two-run single, while Noble drove in another with a basehit. The Wildcats pushed across single runs in the seventh and eighth innings on RBI hits by Stevens and Jim Grieco, respectively.

Francis Brooke worked the first 5 1/3 innings on the mound for Northwestern to earn the win. He allowed four hits and three runs (none earned) while walking one and striking out two.

Northwestern returns to action Wednesday as it takes on Notre Dame at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets cost just $10 and are available at ticketmaster.com or at the U.S. Cellular Field box office.
