NU Announces Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat senior Hilary Bowen (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) of the women's lacrosse team and freshman Trevor Stevens (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) of the baseball team have been named the Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.
Bowen scored 11 goals and assisted on one other in NU's blowout victories last week against Hofstra and Rutgers. She tied her career high with six goals against the Scarlet Knights and became the third player in NU history to top the 200-goal plateau in the process. Bowen is fourth on the school's career points list with 276 and her streak of 48 consecutive games with a goal is tied for fourth-longest in NCAA history.
Stevens helped Northwestern win its series against Illinois-Chicago this weekend, hitting safely in all three games. On Friday, Stevens drove in a run with a third-inning single before clearing the bases with a double in the top of the sixth to give NU a four-run cushion. He tacked on the first home run of his career in the ninth to finish with five RBIs in Northwestern's 9-2 win.
This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is junior Britta Helwig (Chicago, Ill./Luther North) of the cross country team. Britta and other members of the cross country team volunteered at a St. Patrick's Day event at St. Athanasius School on March 14. Britta and her teammates facilitated a number of activity stations including face painting, traditional Irish games as well as a Celtic Rock Band competition on Nintendo Wii.
