EVANSTON, Ill. - Reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Eric Jokisch wasted little time in picking up where he left off last season. The sophomore left-hander was named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week Monday for his efforts in Northwestern's season-opening win over Georgetown on Friday.

It is the second such honor of Jokisch's career. He shares this week's award with Ohio State's Drew Rucinski.

Jokisch fanned a career-high nine batters in NU's 5-3 victory over the Hoyas. Of the three runs allowed, just one was earned. The contest marked the fifth complete game of his brief career. For his efforts, Jokisch was named honorable mention all-tournament by CollegeBaseball360.com for the Big East/Big Ten Challenge.

Northwestern returns to action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invite beginning this Friday.
