EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat juniors Peter Park (Princeton, N.J./Peddie School) of the men's swimming team and Amy Jaeschke (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) of the women's basketball team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

Park led Northwestern to its first dual-meet victory of the season Saturday vs. Illinois-Chicago, winning the 1,000 free (9:33.25), 100 fly (51.03) and 200 IM (1:55.72). Against Wisconsin on Friday, Park nabbed second in the 1,000 free and 400 IM in the 'Cats' close loss to the Badgers.

Jaeschke scored a game-high 27 points in Northwestern's season-opening win Friday at Toledo, its first road win since 2007. Jaeschke compiled eight rebounds, three assists, four blocks and four steals while shooting an efficient 11-of-18 from the field--including 6-of-8 in the first half--in leading the 'Cats to victory.

This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is senior Brendan Smith (Andover, Mass./New Hampton Prep (N.H.)) of the football team. Smith and NU's entire football team hosted students from the Park School at a practice last week. The Park School focuses on the needs of children ages 3 through 21 with special learning and physical needs.
