SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Northwestern posted a top-15 team finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships meet for the third consecutive season Saturday, taking 14th on the campus of Missouri State. Freshman Audrey Huth--who closes the season having led NU in five straight meets--led the Wildcat pack with her 6K time of 22:13.
Huth placed 54th overall while Hallie Busta crossed next for NU, placing 86th in a time of 23:07.
The 'Cats landed in 14th position as a team with 389 points, checking in behind Illinois State (332) and Missouri State (330). Two Big Ten teams, Minnesota and Illinois, finished atop the team standings to earn automatic team bids to the NCAA National Championships meet.
Freshman Moira Ryan competed well in her first NCAA Regional meet, finishing third for Northwestern in 23:09, while sophomore Abby Tracy was next for NU in 23:13.
Senior Paulina Garcia rounded out Northwestern's top five, finishing in 23:45 to take 115th.

Northwestern's 2009 campaign comes to a close, but the 'Cats have shown this year they have plenty to build on. NU's talented group of freshmen and sophomores that led the squad in nearly every meet this season will use a challenging 2010 spring track schedule to prepare for a new season next fall.
