EVANSTON, Ill. —
It's a busy weekend for NU head coach Claire Pollard and her Northwestern squad as the Wildcats compete on two fronts. At home in Evanston, NU is set to host eight teams in the annual Wildcat Fall Invitational Oct. 9-11 while in Los Angeles several 'Cats continue to compete at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.

The Wildcat Invite gets underway Friday at 9 a.m. at the Vandy Christie Outdoor Tennis Center on the campus of Northwestern. In the event of inclement weather, the weekend's action will move indoors to the Combe Tennis Center.

In addition to Northwestern, the eight teams competing in the 2009 Wildcat Invitational are: Akron, DePaul, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wisconsin. The tournament format will consist of four singles brackets and two doubles draws.

Sophomore Stacey Lee is Northwestern's sole returning singles champion from last season's Wildcat Invitational. Lee won the title following a challenging three-set match against DePaul's Selma Salkovic, winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

Meanwhile, NU All-American Maria Mosolova will be vying this weekend for a singles championship at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles, where Mosolova owns the top overall singles seed. Mosolova, who last season reached the semifinals of the elite tournament, opens play against Tennessee's Caitlin Whoriskey. Complete and updated brackets can be found at the official Web site of the All-American Championships.
