EVANSTON, Ill. -- Following a fifth-place finish at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational two weeks ago, Northwestern will compete again Friday at the sixth annual Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill. The 6K race, which takes place on the Newman Golf Course on Bradley's campus, is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. after the conclusion of the men's 8K.
At their first 6K meet this season at the Roy Griak Invite, Northwestern fought their way to a 12th-place finish with freshman Audrey Huth (Shelby, Mich./Utica) leading the Wildcat pack in 23:10 to finish in 36th place overall. Sophomore Hallie Busta (Jackson, Ohio/Massillon-Jackson) and senior Paulina Garcia (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) were NU's second and third top scorers, placing 48th and 49th overall respectively.
Huth, Busta and Garcia repeated their performances as Northwestern's top three finishers at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invite on Oct. 3. On Friday, the 'Cats will also be looking for strong performances from Allegra Mayer (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn) and Moira Ryan (Washington, D.C./Georgetown Visitation) who have been among NU's top contributors this season.
Northwestern last competed at the Bradley Classic in 2007 when the 'Cats ran their way to a third-place finish out of 17 teams in their first 6K race of the year.
The Bradley Classic marks Northwestern's fourth of five meets this season in the state of Illinois, with their final one taking place Oct. 23 at the Illini Open. It is also one of the Wildcats' final tune-ups before the start of championship season, which kicks off on Nov. 1 at the Big Ten Championships at Penn State.
Results from Friday's meet will be made available on NUsports.com following the conclusion of the race.
