EVANSTON, Ill. -- Daniel Prince and Tennille Adams were named assistant coaches for Northwestern's women's basketball program, head coach Joe McKeown announced today. With the hiring of Prince and Adams, McKeown has cemented his 2008-09 coaching staff, which also includes Ali Jaques, an assistant coach under McKeown at George Washington.

"We are very excited to add Daniel and Tennille to our Northwestern basketball family," McKeown said. "Daniel brings a wealth of experience to the program and a great work ethic. His nation-wide recruiting ties will only enhance our efforts toward making Northwestern a national power in women's basketball."

"I am thrilled to work at such a first-class institution like Northwestern and to work for one of the premier basketball coaches in the nation," Prince said. "I'm excited about the future of the women's basketball program here at Northwestern and can't wait to get started."

Prince attended Antelope Valley College in 1992 where he set a national record for 3-pointers in a season and was the California Community College record holder for 3-pointers in a season and in a career (271). Prince was named All-State California Community College and was a first team selection to the California Community College All-Star Team. After two years at Antelope Valley, Prince attended UC Santa Barbara where he finished as a Top 10 player in three-point shots attempted and made in a career.

From 1996 to 2001, Prince was the starting guard and co-captain for the UAG Tecos of Guadalajara, Mexico and the Jiangsu of Jiangsu, China; both of which are teams in FIBA (International Basketball Federation).

Adams comes to Evanston following a one-year stint as assistant coach at American University where she was responsible for all aspects of recruiting. She also was involved in the development of post players and the point person for academic affairs and external relations within the basketball program.

"Tennille brings a wealth of experience to the Northwestern basketball family," McKeown said. "Her ability to recruit, teach and motivate are her strongest assets. As a player who helped Arkansas reach the Final Four and a coach at the Division I level, she has a great work ethic. As a native of the Chicago area, she also has strong recruiting ties to the Midwest."

"I am very excited to work at such an established university," Adams said. "It is a privilege to learn from one of the best coaches in the country and I look forward to working with this great group of young ladies."

Adams, a standout at the University of Arkansas, began her coaching career in 2004 as an assistant at Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas, before taking a similar position at North Carolina A&T State. She spent two years with the Aggies in Greensboro, N.C., before making the move to Washington D.C.

As a student-athlete at Arkansas, Adams was a member of the 1997-1998 Final Four team and the 1998-99 WNIT Championship team. On an individual level, Adams was ranked in the top five post players in the nation and as one of the top 50 seniors by Blue Star.
