Complete 2008-09 Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern announced its 2008-09 women's basketball schedule today, which is highlighted by the second-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge as well as at least six nationally televised matchups.

The Wildcats spend plenty of time in Evanston the first five weeks of the campaign. Of the first 10 non-conference games, six are set for the friendly confines of Welsh-Ryan Arena, including bouts with Kansas State, Houston Baptist, Marquette and Texas Southern. Northwestern hosts the 25th-annual Mildred and Roger L. White Invitational Nov. 29 and 30. The 'Cats face Western Illinois and Missouri over the two-day event.

Other non-conference local matchups include the season debut at Chicago State as well as a jaunt down to Lincoln Park to face DePaul. Trips to Arkansas and Clemson (part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge) and a home contest against North Dakota on Dec. 22 round out the non-conference slate. Non-conference Big Ten Network televised games include the Kansas State and Marquette showdowns.

Northwestern opens its conference season -- and the league's intra-conference schedule -- when it travels to Bloomington, Ind., to face the Hoosiers on Dec. 20. The next Big Ten showdown comes on Dec. 28 when Northwestern travels to Michigan.

Following a two-game homestand against Ohio State and Wisconsin on Dec. 31 and Jan. 4, respectively, the Wildcats travel to East Lansing to face Michigan State on Jan. 8.

Northwestern alternates home and away contests over the next seven games, hosting Purdue (Jan. 11), Michigan State (Jan. 22), Illinois (Jan. 29), and Michigan (Feb. 5) while traveling to Iowa (Jan. 18), Minnesota (Jan. 25) and Purdue (Feb. 1).

Back-to-back trips to Illinois (Feb. 12) and Ohio State (Feb. 15) are followed by a two-game homestand with Indiana (Feb. 19) and Minnesota (Feb. 23). A Feb. 26 road trip to Penn State and a home contest against Iowa on March 1 round out the regular season.

The Big Ten Network will pick up three conference home games -- Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota -- and one road contest at Ohio State.

The 2009 Big Ten Tournament will take place March 5 through 8 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
