Jake Herbert Takes Bronze At World University Games

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Jake Herbert posted a 2-1 record to capture the bronze medal at the World University Games held in Thessoloniki, Greece. It is Herbert's second bronze medal in as many attempts. The Wildcat took third place at the 2006 edition of the event.

Herbert downed Loes of Germany 4-0, 2-0 in the bronze-medal match at 84 kg/185 lbs. Herbert suffered a controversial loss to Turkey's Sahin Borhat in his second match.

Herbert, the 2007 NCAA champion at 184 lbs., took an Olympic redshirt year during 2007-08 to compete in international events leading up to the Olympic Trials. He will return to the Wildcats for the 2008-09 campaign in search of his second NCAA title.
