EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern recently completed their first year under the direction of head coach Arvid Swan. In an effort to beef up the caliber of his program, Swan moved forward and recruited the 12th-best class of incoming freshman this fall, according to tennisrecruiting.net.
Of the four incoming freshman, the two American standouts are each ranked in the top 50 by tennisrecruiting.net. They bring a great deal of promise and potential to the Wildcat program this fall and have an academic prowess to back up their already stellar resume.
Eric Spector (Glenbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Josh Graves (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) each were named to the 2008 National High School Tennis All-American Team. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must maintain above-average academic and citizenship records, compete on a high school tennis team and garner an individual national ranking. Graves garners the honor for the second time, while Spector is a first time recipient. Each year, only 40 individuals are selected nationally.
