Likhite Signs One More To National Letter Of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Head coach April Likhite has announced the signing of Sophie Ewald (Berlin, Germany/Droste-Huelshoff Oberschule/Barron (Wis.)) to a National Letter of Intent. She will be eligible to compete for the Wildcats beginning this fall.
Ewald, who hails from Berlin, was a multi-sport athlete in Germany. She attended Barron High School in Wisconsin as part of a foreign exchange program and ran both track and cross country in her time in America. In her first track season at Barron High in 2006, Ewald placed third at the state meet in the 3200m and sixth in the mile. After returning to Germany, Ewald continued competing and went on to post impressive times in both the 3000m and 5K in her second year of competitive running.
In 2007, she qualified for the European Cross Country Championships in Spain. She won the 4.2K Berlin Mini Marathon in 2007 and was second in the 5K in Germany in 2007 and Berlin's champion in the 10K (37:55).
