Hoosiers Trump Wildcats, 74-58

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Freshman Amy Jaeschke (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) recorded a career-high 26 points, but it was not enough as Indiana defeated Northwestern 74-58 Thursday evening at Assembly Hall. It was the sixth time in the last seven games the 6-5 center has scored in double figures. Senior Nadia Bibbs (Chicago, Ill./Hillcrest) joined Jaeschke in double digits with 11 and recorded the first double-double of the season with 12 rebounds.
"It's frustrating to know you're in a game," head coach Beth Combs said. "We need to be able to play through runs. But we'll get right back at it tomorrow and get ready for Minnesota on Sunday."
Northwestern played the Hoosiers tight in the first half, forcing seven lead changes in the first 12 minutes alone. But Indiana pulled ahead with five minutes left, outscoring the Wildcats 16-6 to end the frame and push the halftime score to 36-23.

The Hoosiers came out strong in the second half and put the game away early, building a 21-point lead in the first six minutes and never looked back.
Northwestern out-shot Indiana in the second half and out-scored them in the paint as well.
Jaeschke scored 20 of her personal-best 26 points in the second half, with most of her points coming from the free-throw line where she went 10-of-13. She also added eight rebounds.
The Wildcats are next in action on Sunday when they travel to Minnesota to take on the Gophers. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
