EVANSTON, Ill. -- Head coach April Likhite has announced the Wildcats' 2008 winter schedule. The session gets underway with the Margaret Bradley Invite at the University of Chicago on Feb. 23.
Sat., Feb. 23 - Margaret Bradley Invite - Chicago, Ill.
Northwestern ran in three events at the Margaret Bradley Invite hosted by the University of Chicago. In the 3000m, Britta Helwig placed second with a time of 10:42.42 in the finals. Megan Young placed 12th in the event. In the 5000m, Marcellee Fullwood won the race with a time of 18:42.60 in the finals. Paulina Garcia was right behind in 2nd, Maddie Rozwat finished seventh, Carla Wirtschafter placed ninth, Annie Reihman was 11th and Kate Cline placed 14th.
Additionally, the Wildcats finished second in the distance medley.
Fri.-Sat., Apr. 4-5 - Chicagoland Invite - Naperville, Ill.
Northwestern competed in three events at the Chicagoland Invite last weekend in Naperville, Ill. In the 1500m, Britta Helwig had a nice start to the outdoor season, finishing 10th with a time of 4:57.42.
Several girls finished well in the 5000m. Paulina Garcia finished 5th and set a new personal best this season (18:31). Madeline Rozwat (19:30.44) and Annie Reihman (20:11.74) each set a new personal record in the event.
The Wildcats also finished 14th as a team in the 4X400m relay event. Overall, the 'Cats had a good start to their outdoor season and have three events remaining in the winter schedule. Northwestern is slated to run next in the Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invite on April 12.
