EVANSTON, Ill. -- Come out to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Thursday, Dec. 4, to support 10th-ranked Northwestern wrestling as it takes on instate rival Northern Illinois. The match is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Northwestern encourages all fans to help the 'Cats in their attempt to break the school's single-match attendance record on High School Night, during which there will be a host of special events and giveaways:
All youth wrestlers and youth wrestling coaches (high school, junior high, grade school, IKWF) are invited to attend the match for the special discounted price of $2. All high school teams in attendance will be recognized during the match's 10-minute intermission. Tickets are also available for groups of 15 or more for just $2.
2008 heavyweight national champion Dustin Fox (pictured right) will be on hand to receive his Big Ten and NCAA championship rings from Northwestern director of athletics Dr. Jim Phillips.
Fox is a native of Galion, Ohio and wrestled for Galion High School, where he was a two-time state champion and a Junior National Freestyle and Greco Roman Champion. He finished his high school career with 132 wins, which remains the school record at Galion High School.
At Northwestern, Fox twice earned All-American honors and was a four-time NCAA qualifier. He also won the Midlands Championship, completing the triple crown of college wrestling his senior season. Fox wrapped up his college career with an amazing 109 victories at the heavyweight division, landing him eighth all-time in program history.

Fox's national championship came on the heels of Jake Herbert's (pictured left) 2007 NCAA title at 184 lbs. Thursday marks a return to competition in Welsh-Ryan Arena for Herbert, who did not wrestle for the 'Cats last season while taking an Olympic redshirt year. The senior is on a tear thus far in 2008, compiling a 9-0 record on the strength of five falls and two major decisions.
Giveaways on the night include Wildcat beads, bandanas, knit hats and NU wrestling posters while supplies last. There will also be a T-shirt toss in the stands and more great prizes will be raffled off during the match.
Face painting and N-Cat tattoos will be available.
Northwestern wrestlers and coaches will be signing autographs for kids after the match.
If you aren't part of a youth wrestling team, you can still attend the match with our affordable regular-ticket prices of $7 for adults and $4 for kids. Plus, there is free parking in the Ryan Field parking lots on either side of the stadium. For more information, please e-mail wildcatmarketing@northwestern.edu.
