EVANSTON, Ill. --
Northwestern heads to Charlottesville, Va., this weekend to compete in its third national ITA-sponsored event and final tournament of the fall schedule, the 2008 National Intercollegiate Indoor Singles Championship. NU is the only school with two players among the tournament's top eight seeds, as sophomore Maria Mosolova (Moscow, Russia/No. 204) is slotted at No. 4 and senior Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) is tabbed at No. 7.

This year's ITA Midwest Regional champion Samantha Murray (Altrincham, England/Altrincham Grammar) joins Mosolova and Rose as NU's third representative in Virginia. Other competitors include 2008 NCAA champion Amanda McDowell of Georgia Tech—who Mosolova defeated in the Riviera/ITA Women's All American Championships earlier this fall—and All American champion Kelcy McKenna of Arizona State.

A year ago, Mosolova lost her opening round match but went on to win four consecutive matches and capture the tournament's consolation bracket, defeating Rose in the final, 7-6 (4), 6-3.

The championships are being hosted by the University of Virginia and held at the Boar's Head Club, which is recognized as one of the top 50 tennis resorts in the U.S. Live scoring updates for all matches at the 2008 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Championships will be available on virginiasports.com.
