Duals in the Desert Final Results
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Competing against a field consisting of some of the nation's best programs at the Duals in the Desert, No. 6 Maria Mosolova came away with a Flight One singles title for Northwestern, topping No. 34 Taylor Ormand of Baylor in the finals, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4. Junior Lauren Lui and senior Keri Robison also won the finals of Flight Four and Seven, respectively.
Lui overcame Lela Entahkabi of Southern California, 6-4, 6-1, while Robison beat Laurieanne Henry of Clemson, 6-3, 6-3.
In all, Northwestern returns from Palm Springs with four flight titles. Robison teamed with freshman Elena Chernyakova on Saturday to win Flight Three of the doubles tournament.
Two Wildcats also won matches Sunday to claim third place in their respective flights. Senior Nazlie Ghazal defeated Estefania Balda of Clemson, 6-2, 6-4, in Flight Six while junior Samantha Murray took down Gabriella Mejia of Miami (Fla.), 6-2, 6-4, in Flight Three.
Northwestern's hectic fall schedule continues next weekend in Charlottesville, Va., at the Indoor Singles Championship. Competition begins Thursday, Nov. 6.
