EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat juniors Whitney White (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) of the women's fencing team and Corey Wootton (Rutherford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) have been named the Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

White posted wins in all 15 of her individual bouts at the NU Duals, including seven against Big Ten opponents, to lift the 'Cats to a 10-0 team mark. White spearheaded the sabre team to a combined 84-6 record on the weekend. With the wins, White upped her career record to 88-48 while helping head coach Laurie Schiller inch closer to 1,000 career wins (965).

Wootton led Northwestern's defense to its fourth second-half shutout of the season, helping the Wildcats to a comeback victory over Michigan with six tackles, a forced fumble, a sack, a pass deflection and a blocked field goal. Wootton is in the midst of a breakout season with 14.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks and now has 14.0 career sacks, fourth all-time at Northwestern.

This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is Samantha Santulli (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) of the women's lacrosse team. Samantha and other members of the women's lacrosse team hosted a youth clinic and a four-on-four tournament to benefit the Fabretto Foundation in Nicaragua, which provides education, health and community improvement services to children and families in the Central American nation.
