EVANSTON, Ill. -- Fresh off its competition at the ITA All American Championships in Los Angeles, Northwestern returns to Evanston to host the annual Wildcat Fall Invitational Oct. 10-12 at the outdoor Vandy Christie Tennis Center. Senior Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) and junior Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) are slated to compete in Flight A of the singles draw for Northwestern.
Other schools participating are Akron, LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wisconsin. Complete draws for the tournament are available in PDF format at the top of this page.
This year's edition of the Wildcat Invitational features four flights of singles action and two flights of doubles play. Every singles player and doubles team is guaranteed to compete in four matches over the three-day event. Play begins each day at 9 a.m. and will last until approximately 6 p.m.
In doubles competition, Northwestern features teams of Ghazal and freshman Elena Chernyakova (Moscow, Russia) as well as senior Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Florida) paired with freshman Stacey Lee (Old Westbury, N.Y./Wheatley).
Last weekend in Los Angeles, sophomore and sixth-ranked Maria Mosolova (Moscow, Russia/No. 204) upset the reigning ITA Player of the Year, third-ranked Amanda McDowell of Georgia Tech, before losing a thrilling semifinal match to No. 20 Kelcy McKenna of Arizona State. Senior Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) also scored an impressive upset against No. 4 Hilary Barte of Stanford to advance to the quarterfinals.
