EVANSTON, Ill. -- With the official start of practice right around the corner, NUsports.com caught up with new women's basketball coach Joe McKeown to talk about the preparations for the upcoming season. McKeown discusses his vision for the program, what he has seen in individual workouts with his freshmen and returners and many other topics.
McKeown, one of the most respected names in women's college basketball, enters his first season at the helm of the Wildcats with 509 career victories and a .745 winning percentage. He comes to NU from George Washington, where he was the winningest coach in school history and the Atlantic 10 conference. In 22 seasons as a head coach, he has guided a team to postseason play 19 teams. He led the Colonials to 14 regular season or postseason Atlantic 10 crowns.
Northwestern has an exhibition against UW-Parkside on Nov. 7 before beginning the regular season at Chicago State on Nov. 14.
