Mosolova, Rose Advance in ITA All-American Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. -- A trio of Wildcats are participating in the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera C.C. in Los Angeles, Calif. On the first day of competition, Northwestern sent two singles players into the second round as No. 6 Maria Mosolova defeated Ellah Nze of Duke (6-1, 6-2) and No. 11 Georgia Rose knocked off Sanaz Marand of North Carolina in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Mosolova and Rose will continue with their quests for a singles title when Mosolova takes on Q Bianca Eichkorn of Miami (Fla.) and Hilary Barte of Stanford on Friday afternoon.
In the qualifying singles draw, junior Lauren Lui won her opening round match against Katarina Zoricic of William and Mary (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) before falling to Katie Rybakova of Florida State (6-3, 3-0 (retired)).
In doubles play, the 7th-ranked team of Lauren Lui and Rose lost its opening round contest to a duo from Fresno State (Kucerkova and Petukhova).
Senior Nazlie Ghazal won two matches in the pre-qualifying singles draw before falling to Nadja Gilchrist of Georgia (1-6, 6-1, 6-4).
