Freshman Stacey Lee Captures Wildcat Fall Invite Title

EVANSTON, Ill. -- In the final day of the Wildcat Fall Invitational, freshman Stacey Lee (Old Westbury, NY/Wheatley) won the Flight D Singles championship in a tough three set match over DePaul's Selma Salkovic, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. The 'Cats finished with a strong 5-1 singles and doubles record on Sunday to leave with a 20-8 record for the weekend.
In Flight A singles consolation, both Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) and Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) topped off their weekends with victories. Lui finished the weekend with a 3-1 record.
The 'Cats continued their strong play in Flight B Singles as freshman Elena Chernyakova (Moscow, Russia) also won her consolation match. Chernyakova paired with Lui in the Flight A doubles consolation draw to post a 9-7 victory over Notre Dame's Kali Krisik and Shannon Mathews.
In the Flight B doubles consolation, Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Florida) and Ghazal dropped their match to Akron's Zaruhi Harutyunyan and sophomore Anna Baronayte, 8-2.
Northwestern's next event is the ITA Regionals which begin October 23.
