EVANSTON, Ill. In the second day of action at the annual Wildcat Fall Invitational, Northwestern's women's tennis team recorded a 7-7 combined record in singles and doubles. Freshman Stacey Lee (Old Westbury, NY/Wheatley) notched two straight set victories, maintaining a perfect record on the weekend en route to a Flight C singles final spot.
In the quarterfinal, Lee cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Michigan State's Elena Ivanova. She continued her momentum with a 6-3, 6-1 semifinal victory over Sandra Zmak of DePaul.
In Flight A singles, preseason No. 36 Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) won her second round match before falling to Ana Maria Zubori of South Carolina in a seesaw quarterfinal three-setter. Senior Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) fell in round two of main draw play and also in her consolation match.
Senior Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Florida) advanced to the semifinal of the Flight B singles draw before falling in straight sets. Freshman Elena Chernyakova (Moscow, Russia) lost in the quarters of the same draw, but handily won her consolation match over Notre Dame's Katie Potts, 6-1 6-2.
In doubles action, both Wildcat pairs of Ghazal and Chernyakova and Lee and Robison lost in the semifinals of the Flight A and Flight B semifinals, respectively.
The Wildcat Fall Invitational concludes on Sunday at Vandy Christie Tennis Center with play beginning at approximately 9 am.
