EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the second time in as many weeks, Northwestern received the Big Ten's Athlete of the Week award for women's tennis. Freshman Maria Mosolova (Moscow, Russia) won this week's award on the heels of Samantha Murray's last week.

Mosolova is the No.-2 ranked player in the nation in the ITA's initial release of rankings. The freshman phenom won the award following a dominant NU performance against No. 15 William & Mary, where the Wildcats won 7-0. Mosolova contributed to the win defeating the Tribe's 12th-ranked Megan Moulton-Levy and winning in doubles with partner Nazlie Ghazal.

NU won all three doubles points and swept the singles.

In addition to being named the Big Ten Player of the Week, Mosolova was named Northwestern's Hilton Garden Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 1, 2007. The honor from the Big Ten was the first in her career.

NU's match against William & Mary was its first of the season and only match at home in the month of January. The Wildcats are on the road for matches against New Mexico and the defending national champion Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets before heading to the National Indoor Championships on Feb. 7 in Madison, Wis.
