Wildcats Sweep Doubleheader

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern picked up its second victory in as many tries on Sunday against the University of Chicago, as the Wildcats wrapped up the dual match with a 6-1 win at the Combe Tennis Center.
Sophomore Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) was the first Wildcat to finish after picking up the doubles point to put the `Cats up 2-0. Sanborn's victory came by a 6-0, 6-0 score.
Junior Marc Dwyer (Peachtree City, Ga./Nebraska-Independent Study H.S.) put away Garrett Brinker 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles spot, which was his second victory of the day.
NU's clinching victory came at the hands of junior Philip Kafka (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill), who dispatched Joseph Tchan 6-3, 6-0.
Closing out the night was senior Juan Gomez (Mexico City, Mexico) with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. The only loss on the night was by freshman Peter Rispoli (Naples, Fla./St. Stephen's (Texas)), who dropped a heartbreaking, hard-fought tiebreaker 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 against Will Zhang.
NU's victory bumped its record to 2-0. Earlier in the afternoon, the `Cats took a 4-0 win against UIC.
Northwestern travels to play at Louisville and at Ball State next weekend.
