EVANSTON, Ill.-- Northwestern has named Carl Pett (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) of men's soccer and Chelsy Hyser (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) of volleyball as its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Pett led the sixth-ranked Northwestern men's soccer team to its largest Big Ten regular season victory ever by posting two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win at 19th-ranked Ohio State Sunday afternoon. The sophomore took advantage of an Ohio State turnover at the midfield in assisting on the first goal of the contest. In the second half, Pett helped the Wildcats pull away by scoring on a header and then finding the back of the net again on a great individual effort to help Northwestern remain undefeated. His four goals this season lead the team and have helped the Wildcats get off to their best start in school history at 6-0-1.

Hyser led Northwestern with a .298 hitting percentage and a team-high 11 blocks as the Wildcats took down No. 23 Ohio State during a 1-1 Big Ten- opening weekend. In NU's first win in Columbus since 2003 and its first to open the conference schedule since 2002, the junior had 11 kills and a team-best six blocks, then she hit a team-high .375 (8-2-16) as NU hung tough with No. 3 Penn State Saturday night. Hyser currently leads the team with a .370 hitting percentage.
