Dr. Bessie Rhodes Magnet School Collaborating with the local schools of Evanston, Northwestern joined forces with Dr. Bessie Rhodes Magnet School as part of the District 65 initiative reintroducing the middle school sports program. Members of the women's soccer, volleyball, and women's and men's basketball spent the afternoon showcasing their sport to the students and organizing drills and games to get students excited about this new program. Additionally, Northwestern University donated $25,000 to help District 65 reintroduce sports to local middle schools, assisting to make District 65 a stronger district across the community.
"The kids really enjoyed having [the student athletes] come show off their skills and just hang out. A couple of the kids were talking today about how no one was able to score on the goalie and how tall [men's basketball player] Jeff Ryan is. I really appreciate them taking the time to help promote our new sports program." organizer Jenna Termolen said.
