Cross Country Takes Fifth at Forester Invite

EVANSTON, Ill.-- Northwestern placed six runners in the top 35 and ran to a fifth place finish at the 5k Forester Invite on Saturday in Vernon Hills, Ill.
Freshman Maddie Rozwat (Hillsborough, Calif./Crystal Springs Uplands) ran the 5k race in 19:39 for a fourth-place finish overall for the 'Cats, who rested its top seven runners after three races in three straight weeks.
Lauren Maddox (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and Megan Young (Rochester Hills, Mich./Detroit County Day) ran stride-for-stride with each other and finished 16th and 17th overall with times of 20:13 and 20:18, respectively.
Just behind Maddox and Young, the duo of Kate Cline (Brecksville, Ohio/Broadview Heights) and Carla Wirtschafter (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills) ran to 27th and 28th place finishes at 20:55 and 20:58.
Senior Alison Coren (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) finished sixth for the Wildcats (33rd overall) at 21:11. Rounding out the 'Cats top seven was Elizabeth Hohl (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) in 46th place with a time of 21:38.
For NU, it was the fourth race of the year and the fourth different finish, as it has garnered finishes of second, third and fourth in the previous three weeks.
A trip to the adidas Invitational on Friday in South Bend, Ind. is next for the 'Cats.
