Six Northwestern Runners Finish in Top 25

EVANSTON, Ill.---Northwestern women's cross country team started off the season in remarkable fashion as it beat six out of seven opponents and had six runners finish in the overall top 25 at two-mile UIC Home Opener on Saturday at Palos Hills, Ill.
Junior Carly Brown (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead) placed second overall with a time of 11:25, just in front of teammate Celia Franklin (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier), who finished at 11:29.
Following the duo and finishing 13th, 14th and 16th were freshman Maddie Rozwat (Hillsborough, Calif./Crystal Springs Uplands), and sophomores Paulina Garcia (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) and Britta Helwig (Chicago, Ill./Luther North) with times of 12:04, 12:05 and 12:08, respectively.
Senior Marie Grabinski (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) finished 23rd.
In the head-to-head format of the tournament, the Wildcats finished ahead of UIC, Loyola (Chicago), UW-Green Bay, Chicago State, St. Xavier and UW-Milwaukee.
The 'Cats next meet will be next Saturday at the Fordham Invitational in Van Cortlandt, N.Y.
