EVANSTON, Ill. -- NCAA champion Jake Herbert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and All-American Mike Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) have earned All-Academic Team honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) while NU placed ninth among all schools in cumulative team G.P.A. -- the only program to finish in the top-10 at the 2007 NCAA Championships and in grade point average.

For Herbert, the selection is the second of his career. He is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten recipient.

This is Tamillow's first-career NWCA All-Academic team honor. He is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

The Wildcats finished first among Big Ten teams in cumulative GPA, and with their fourth-place finish at the 2007 NCAA Championships, are the only team to finish in the top-10 in team GPA and at the NCAA Championships.

NU matched a program best with a fourth-place finish at the 2007 NCAA Championships. Herbert was NU’s first individual champion since 1990 and the four Wildcats earned All-America status.
