EVANSTON, Ill. -- After winning all 18 matches en route to a 2-0 weekend, the Wildcats are set to hit the road for three matches in three days. The 11th-ranked 'Cats take on 13th-ranked William & Mary Friday before facing a pair of Big Ten foes in No. 48 Ohio State and No. 34 Indiana Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Northwestern's match against William & Mary was scheduled for March 3 in Cambridge, Mass., but was rescheduled due to weather and travel complications. NU faces the Tribe at 11 a.m. Friday before 10 a.m. contests against Ohio State and Indiana over the weekend.
"It's the last big road trip of the regular season so we are looking forward to testing ourselves against three great teams," head coach Claire Pollard said.
Sophomore Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) is on a 10-match winning streak and moved up to No. 11 in the singles rankings. She will face stiff competition at the No. 1 singles spot this weekend as Megan Moulton-Levy of William & Mary is currently ranked eighth in singles.
In doubles, Rose and senior Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), the nation's 13th-ranked tandem, will have a showdown with top-ranked Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zoricic of William & Mary.
Two other 'Cats appear in this week's ITA rankings. Freshman Samantha Murray (Altrincham, England/Altrincham Grammar) is ranked 29th and fellow freshman Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) is 113th.
Last Time Out
Northwestern did not surrender a match in its two 7-0 wins over Illinois and No. 50 Purdue last weekend. The 'Cats swept all three doubles matches in convincing fashion, surrendering only five total games to Illinois Friday. None of the six singles matches reached third sets.
Murray clinched the match at No. 2 with a dominant win over Momei Qu 6-1, 6-0. The 23rd-ranked freshman controlled the match from start to finish and sealed the dual with an ace on the final point.
Despite having to move indoors after doubles to avoid rain showers, the 10th-ranked Wildcats had little trouble taking care of 50th-ranked Purdue Sunday, 7-0.
Although all three doubles matches were close and hard-fought affairs, Northwestern swept all three to take the first point of the dual. The duo of Lui and sophomore Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Keystone National) improved their mark to 6-0 in duals with an 8-5 win at No. 2.
Although she surrendered her first set of Big Ten play, Rose extended her winning streak to 10 with a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) win over Mallory Voelker at No. 1.
