EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named Mike Kalina (Munster, Ind./Munster) of baseball and Garland Cooper (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) of softball its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Kalina was one of Northwestern's most productive hitters in a very offensive week for the Wildcats. In five starts, Kalina hit .421 (8-for-19) with a pair of doubles, a sacrifice fly and his first collegiate home run.

More importantly, he drove in 10 runs and scored three times. His 10 RBI were the most by any Wildcat last week. This is the first Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Kalina's career.

Cooper hit three home runs last week to become the Big Ten's all-time home run leader with 53 career blasts. She now has 21 on the season, which ties the conference's single-season record.

In NU's five games, Cooper hit a team-best .583 with 11 RBIs, a 1.417 slugging percentage and a .737 on-base percentage. This is the fourth Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Cooper's career.
