UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - In his second straight outstanding effort on the mound, senior Ryan Myers went the distance in a 1-0 loss to Penn State. Myers lost to Illinois 1-0 last weekend. In Game One of Saturday's doubleheader, the Nittany Lions scored one unearned run in the fourth inning at PSU's Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Myers gave up just three hits and struck out three in the seven-inning contest.

The Lions lone run came in the bottom of the fourth inning when they took advantage of a pair of Wildcat error. A two-out throwing error put a Lion runner on second after he was awarded an extra base because the overthrow went into the stands. The next Penn State hitter lined a single down the left-field line to score the games only run. After another Wildcat error put runners on first and third, starter Ryan Myers (Lake Villa, Ill./Carmel) got a groundball to second to end the inning.

The Wildcats' lone hit came in the top of the fifth inning when second baseman Caleb Fields (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) lined a single to centerfield. The only other runner to reach base was Aaron Newman (Palatine, Ill./Palatine). He reached on a fielding error in the third inning, but was quickly cut down with a double play.

In his last two starts, Myers has pitched 13.0 innings, gave up two runs (one earned) on only nine hits. He has lowered his team-leading ERA from 4.42 to 3.44.
