EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference office today announced the Academic All-Big Ten teams for the 2006-07 winter sports season, with a total of 27 Northwestern student-athletes earning the award. The Wildcats field five teams in the winter that are honored by the Big Ten: men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming, women's swimming and wrestling.

To earn Academic All-Big Ten recognition, a student-athlete must be in his/her second year at the school, letter in his/her sport, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Two Wildcats received special recognition for achieving perfect 4.0 GPAs: Ivan Tolic of men's basketball and Holly Palin of women's basketball.
