EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a week off, Northwestern's 31st-ranked women's golf team is ready to tee it up again this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4) as it makes its first appearance at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz.

The 'Cats last tournament action was Feb. 19-20 at the Central District Invitational, where they finished in a seventh-place tie (among 14 teams) with the best teams in the NCAA Central Region. Liliana Alvarez (Durango, Mexico/American School of Durango) paced the Wildcats with a 15th-place finish -- her fourth top-20 finish in four events as a Wildcat and the 23rd such finish in her career.

Northwestern is the highest-ranked team in a Red Rocks Invitational field that includes four other top-75 teams: No. 38 Michigan, No. 49 Nebraska, No. 51 Washington State and No. 75 Eastern Michigan. The 17-team field also includes host and defending champion Northern Arizona, Drake, Gonzaga, Montana, Montana State, Portland, Portland State, UC Riverside, Utah Valley, Western Michigan, Wyoming and William & Mary.

The 36-hole tournament is being played at Oakcreek Country Club in the Arizona desert. Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the par-72 course that measures 6,089 yards.
