EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named senior Mike Alexandrov (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) and sophomore Erin Dyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Alexandrov set the NCAA record in the 100 breaststroke, breaking the 10-year-old record of Jeremy Linn to win an NCAA title. He also swam on the NCAA-record-breaking 400 medley relay with Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), Kyle Bubolz (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) and Bruno Barbic (Zagreb, Croatia/V. Gymnazija).

NU finished sixth at the championships -- its highest team finish in the modern era. This is the third Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Alexandrov's career.

Dyer hit three home runs and 10 RBIs in Northwestern's wins over Missouri and Columbia (Mo.). Dyer hit one of her blasts in an 8-0 win over Western Illinois on Friday and added two more home runs Sunday against Columbia.

Northwestern went 4-0 on the weekend, outscoring its opponents 39-1 in the four games. This is the first Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Dyer's career.
