EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named freshman Kevin Coble (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Christian Academy) of men's basketball and Kristin Cartwright (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) of women's basketball its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Coble made another strong case for Big Ten All-Freshman honors as he averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds last week in a pair of games. He shot 16-of-24 from the field, 6-of-10 from 3-point range and tallied six assists.
In the game at Wisconsin, he scored 24 points on a career-high 10 field goals and led the team with seven rebounds. This is the second Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of his career.
Cartwright averaged 10 points and nearly eight rebounds in contests against Ohio State and Michigan last week. Cartwright scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field Thursday against No. 5 Ohio State and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds Sunday at Michigan. This is the first Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
