Northwestern Visits Eastern Michigan

EVANSTON, Ill.-- Ninth-ranked Northwestern demolished its competition last Saturday at the NU Duals and takes on Eastern Michigan at 2 p.m. Sunday in Ypsilanti, Mich.
NU is led by Brandon Precin (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg), who is 16-0 this season. Precin took two victories from the Duals with a forfeit and a pin at 2:37 in the second dual of the day. At 133 lbs., Eric Metzler (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) wrestled against North Dakota State, scoring a 10-2 major decision.
All-Americans Mike Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick), Dustin Fox (Galion, Ohio/Galion) and Ryan Lang (North Royalton, Ohio/Lakewood St. Edward) all wrestled for the first time this season for NU as well, winning four combined matches for the 'Cats. Tamillow's victory came early in the first period by injury default, while Lang crushed his opponent scoring a technical fall at 4:39. Fox won by forfeit against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and by a 15-5 major decision in the second dual.
Five Wildcat wrestlers are ranked in the top 10 in their weight classes by the USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Division I Coaches' polls. Nick Hayes (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Lewis Central) rings in at 10th at 174 lbs., Precin seventh at 125 lbs. and Mike Tamillow third in the nation at 197 lbs. Fox and Lang, meanwhile, are both tops in the country at 285 lbs. and 141 lbs., respectively.
NU's dual against Eastern Michigan serves as its last tune-up before Midlands "45" on Dec. 29-30 at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
