After their 3-0 victory over Iowa on Sunday, October 28, the Women's Soccer team hosted Locks of Love Day at Lakeside Field. Head Coach Stephanie Erickson, Assistant Coach Danielle Slaton, and 10 members of the Wildcat squad: Lauren Johnston, Jeanette Lorme, Alicia Herczeg, Leslie Gittings, Kay Sampson, Jennifer Baumann, Danielle Iordanou, Jessica Lau, Amanda Hoffman and Kelly Sitkowski each donated between 6 and 14 inches of hair. Fans and Northwestern employees attending the game also generously donated hair for a total of 16 donations. Monetary donations were also collected at the event to directly benefit Locks of Love. Head Coach Stephanie Erickson and junior midfielder Jeanette Lorme will be in the Big Ten Network studios on Monday talking about this event. After the event on Sunday, Lorme explained, "I decided to do Locks of Love with the team because I think it is an amazing organization that has really brought attention to an important issue. Cancer has affected my family and friends personally so anything to help people fighting it is something I want to do. I'm really proud of my teammates and the many people that donated. I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous about having my hair really short at first, but overall I'm glad that I was personally able to give something to help!"
