EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named junior Dustin Fox (Galion, Ohio/Galion) of wrestling and Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) of women's tennis its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Fox won a 3-2 decision over Wisconsin's Kyle Massey to give Northwestern a 19-18 victory over the Badgers Friday night. The 'Cats trailed by 12 heading into the final four bouts and faced a two-point deficit heading into Fox's match. The win by the fourth-ranked heavyweight gave Northwestern its first Big Ten win of the year and improved his season record to 20-2. This is the second Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Fox's career.
Ghazal went a dominant 2-0 in both singles and doubles in the 'Cats' 6-1 wins over DePaul and No. 10 Duke to start the 2007 season. The sophomore surrendered only one game in two straight-set singles wins and cruised to two doubles wins with partner Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Keystone National).
Ghazal is 13-4 in singles and 13-3 in doubles this season. This is the first Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Ghazal's career.
