EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named Mike Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) of wrestling and Emily Wong (Nepean, Ontario/St. Joseph's) of women's swimming as its Hilton Garen Inn Athletes of the Week.

Tamillow won the 197-pound title at the 44th Midlands Wrestling Championships hosted by Northwestern. The second-seeded junior defeated No. 5 seed Kurt Backes of Iowa State 3-1 in the finals to capture his first career Midlands crown and help the Wildcats to a third-place finish. With Ryan Lang's (North Royalton, Ohio/St. Edward) title at 141, NU had two Midlands champions for the first time since 1964.

The junior adds the Midlands to his titles at the Reno Tournament of Champions and the season-opening Eastern Michigan Open. Tamillow is a perfect 21-0 this season and the eighth-ranked Wildcats are off to an 8-0 start, the best under head coach Tim Cysewski. This is his second career Hilton Garden Athlete of the Week honor. His last came on January 31, 2005.

Wong swam two NCAA 'B' standard performances during NU's training trip dual meet at Hawaii with times of 23.41 to win the 50 free and 50.12 to win the 100 free. Her time in the 100 free vaulted her all the way to fourth on Northwestern's all-time top performances in the event.

Her swims were even more impressive given the fact NU was in the midst of its grueling annual training trip. This is her first career Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor.
