Sportsmanship is important while playing sports because if you have good sportsmanship that means that you are a good sport and you care about the game and not about winning. Also good sportsmanship shows that you are not sore losers and that you encourage your teammates during the competition.
Good sportsmanship, for example is when your team is down by 12 points and you see one of your teammates starting to quit, but then you go up to him/her and encourage them to still try their hardest. Another thing could be that if your teammate has played a not-so-good game you don't just go up to them and tell them that you say, "Well at least you tried your hardest." So that they don't feel bad.
An example of when I showed good sportsmanship is when we were playing a game to make the playoffs. Unfortunately we lost. My whole team was upset. We were even crying! But even though I was crying too I tried my best to comfort my teammates as they did to me. For me this is good sportsmanship because you are not just thinking of yourself but of your teammates also.
This is why sportsmanship is a good thing to know. It helps with your teammates and it makes you a better player! This is why sportsmanship is good when playing sports.

Sportsmanship is important in playing sports because it keeps people encourage to keep trying. There are many examples of good sportsmanship, like encouraging people on your team and by staying positive throughout the game. I will describe these examples of showing good sportsmanship, and I will also describe a time when I used good sportsmanship.
Good sportsmanship is when someone doesn't bring someone down, they encourage them to get back up and keep going. People use good sportsmanship when they play sports. This is important because it brings teams together and to use their abilities with everyone else on the team. Some examples are when a teammate misses a shot; you can say "Nice shot" or "Good try". You can also show good sportsmanship by staying positive and cheering your teammates on to do their best.
I remember a time when I used good sportsmanship. It was in a basketball game, we were down by a few at halftime. I stayed positive and played my best and also encouraged my teammates to do the same. At the end of the game we won by five points and we were all happy and excited.
