EVANSTON, Ill. --Senior Erryn Cobb (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) and junior Stephanie Jurivich (LaGrange, Ill./St. Ignatius) have been named Northwestern's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Cobb blocked a punt and returned it 23 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 advantage early in the third quarter of Northwestern's emotional season-opening win over Miami (Ohio). The Wildcats would score on their next two offensive possessions to build a 21-3 advantage on their way to victory on the campus where Walker both played and coached. Cobb was named Big Ten Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, the first weekly conference honor of Cobb's career.
Jurivich set a career high for assists in each of the first three matches of the season. In the season-opener against UIC, Jurivich notched 34 assists in addition to a career-best .688 hitting percentage with 11 kills on 16 attempts and no errors. Jurivich then offered up 42 assists in a sweep of IUPUI. Jurivich concluded her weekend by upping her single-match career-best for assists to 44 in a five-game loss to Western Michigan.
